Alan Wise is a seven year veteran trumpet player of Maynard Ferguson’s band (1980-1987). Over the years he has recorded and performed with countless groups, and currently he is a freelance trumpet player and educator doing clinics and lessons.

In 2014, Legends Brass launched the Wise trumpet mouthpiece. Derek worked with Alan to design a mouthpiece to meet his specific needs. It has a small inside diameter (.560″) and extra shallow cup (similar to Bach F), among other characteristics specifically geared toward upper register playing. Read more about the mouthpiece here.
