Description
Legends Rim-A-Meter: find your rim size! When you’re on a “safari” to find the best trumpet mouthpiece for you, start with the Rim-A-Meter. A unique tool designed by Dan Burnham, this is a quick and easy fix for a problem many trumpet players face. Think of it this way: an olympic runner could buy the best running shoes on the market, but if they’re the wrong size, they won’t work at all. The same is true with trumpet mouthpieces. Before anything else, you must first determine your rim size.
Simply buzz on each rim in the series, from 0.580″ to 0.680″ diameter. You’ll quickly find the size that allows the most flexibility for your embouchure. Once you have determined the inside rim diameter that works best for you, you’ll be able to eliminate mouthpieces from your search that are too big or too small. Then, staying with your appropriate rim size, you’ll be able to accurately compare mouthpieces with different rim shapes, cup depths, cup shapes, and other differences. Your mouthpiece safari is going to get a lot shorter, and you’ll be locked in and playing your best mouthpiece in no time!
Rim-A-Meter is great for:
- trumpet players who have had dental work
- returning players
- those who have gained or lost weight
- beginning players who don’t know where to start with choosing a mouthpiece
- multi-instrument brass players
