[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]The Legends S MF is based on a Schilke MF mouthpiece. It has a very round rim which slips seamlessly into a convex V cup, like many mouthpieces used by the legendary Maynard Ferguson. The roundness of the rim makes it difficult to accurately measure the inside rim diameter, but it is about .595″. Maynard Ferguson used several mouthpieces with this round-rim and convex V cup combination. On this particular version, the high point of the rim is the farthest out, which makes the diameter feel wider. The cup depth is medium shallow to shallow (similar to Bach D/E). The rim and cup of the Legends S MF are identical to the Schilke MF, but the throat and backbore have been changed to make them a little more playable to mere mortals. The throat is a #27 and the backbore is the Legends S.

Maynard Ferguson used Schilke MF mouthpieces made by well known craftsman Scott Laskey briefly in the late 1980’s. At the time he played a Holton ST 302 (.468 bore) and a Holton ST 306 (also .468 bore) trumpet.
