Description
The Legends RM 17C is based on a vintage Rudy Mück 17C. Possibly the most popular of the Rudy Mück models, it has the “full cushion rim” with a medium shallow bowl shaped cup and an inside rim diameter of .650″ (as measured by Legends Brass). The original brochure from 1937 describes the Rudy Muck cushion rim as “the most comfortable feature of any mouthpiece in the field today. It helps relieve pressure, prevents hinderance of blood circulation in the lips, and keeps the lips from slipping, even when wet.” The shallow bowl cup paired with the extra comfortable rim give a boost to the upper register and extend endurance. This mouthpiece is a tribute to the master craftmanship of Rudy Muck, enabling splendid attack in all registers, and clear rounded tones without effort, just as originally intended!

Rudy Muck came from a long line of musical instrument craftsmen. His ancestors had been making instruments as far back as 1875 in Austria. Rudy became an apprentice in his father’s New York shop at the age of eight. He learned to play the trumpet during these early years, and by age 12 was playing in B.F. Keith’s band. Later, he became a craftsman in his father’s shop, and together they perfected the legendary Rudy Muck Cushion Rim Mouthpiece.
